Malin Hellesø

Malin is what I would like to say, a poet photographer. Her pictures has a special dept in both impression and technique. She has a great capability to create sense and feeling in her work. Especially with people in her pictures.

Just see the picture above.. What do you feel when you see it? A small moment in time, frozen for a long time to come. Karin puts her hands together listening to music she recognizes from the past. She lives the moment and remembers.. Malin takes the shot in the exact right moment.

That is what her work is all about, capture the moment and deliver it to the viewer.

When I ask Malin about this, how she can capture the exact right moment, she smiles and tell me that it is just something that happens. It’s a natural reaction, she becomes one with the camera it self and combined, the picture is there. I kind of understand how she mean. Like you move your hand to get rid of a string of hair falling in front of your eye. Intuition.

Malin is also a natural creating mood in her work. If she captures an old door in an old house, you can really see that the house is forgotten and one the verge of total breakdown. I can feel great sorrow about the faith of the old house and that its golden days are over.

Malin works with her husband Terje at there own firm Hellesø Photography. At the moment, she is in the making of releasing her book “I will never stop watching”. She is also writing a children’s book together with Terje.
